Creative Color Combination Set #2
Each week we will take a look at a different color combination, that I will come up with (see, pressure’s off of you!). If you missed set #1 you can read it HERE. You will see how the colors look together. Maybe they will inspire you! Maybe they will go on the “ugly-don’t-use-list.” Who knows? Either way, it will help you to think outside the box and get you ready to try new color schemes! Take a deep breath, change is good.
And, this is coming from someone who doesn’t like change.
During each, “lesson” we will not only explore different color combinations, but we will also take a look at the meaning or why each color combination works, which will help us know how to use it! (Some will be soft, some bold, some upbeat, etc)
So are you ready to go from colorless to colorful? Say goodbye to the one-trick pony and let’s get started!
This week our creative color combination is Terra Cotta, Taupe, and Chocolate Brown.
Now you’re probably thinking how in the world can those colors alone look good together….Boring!! Right??
Wrong!!! Wait until you see how beautiful these colors look together all by themselves.
Let’s dig a little bit deeper into each of the colors!
Browns– Browns have the feel of stability and security. It’s a reliable color that ranges from earthy beige and taupe to rich chocolaty brown. These brown colors will inspire feelings of balance and strength.
Oranges – This color radiates warmth and happiness. Orange can range from bright yellow-orange to deep terra-cotta. You want to use a color like this when you want comfort
So now that we know what each color does alone, When you use these colors in combination this is the look you will get.
I LOVE this color combination! It goes great because it is full of balance and strength. The dark brown offsets the terra cotta because it takes a happy color and makes it more comforting. If we had used red it wouldn’t have worked as well because red is a stimulating color. But the taupe was a perfect choice to mix with the terra cotta and dark brown! What do you think? Can you see how these colors balance each other.
So now it’s time to take that leap! Go ahead and dig out your pens, markers, paints, or whatever medium you want to use and give the Terra-Cotta, Taupe, and Dark Brown color combination a try!
Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect!
Can you see how comforting the terra cotta is when you mix it with the strong colors of the dark brown and taupe?
